Competition to find new name for local trader

A LOCAL trader is running a competition inviting people to put on their thinking caps and come up with a new name for their business and there's a prize worth £100 for the winner.

Linda Donoghue, proprietor of 'Old 'N' Gold on Sackville Road, said the long established family business, which originally sold second hand records and videos, needs a fresh new name to reflect the changes she has implemented in the past two years since she took over from her mum.

"The business has been in the family for seventeen years and I took over two years ago. I've made a lot of changes and we no longer sell records or videos. I'd like a suggestion for the shop to have a more up to date name and the winner of the competition will receive 100 worth of stock."

Linda has completely revamped the shop and it is now a cornucopia of both new and second hand DVD's, CD's, computer games and books, and she prides herself, not only on the quality of the items she has in stock, but also on the bargain prices.

Linda said: "We have over 3,000 DVD's in stock, around 2,000 CD's and we insist that all our second hand items are immaculate. Our new products are invariably much cheaper than larger shops and we also offer an ordering service."

To enter the competition pick up an application form from Old 'N' Gold. Closing date for entries is July 31st. For further information call (01424) 734473.
