Detective Inspector Adam Hibbert said: 'Our main message is to Tom. We want to stress that he is not in trouble and we just want to know that he is safe and well. Tom is vulnerable because of his age.

'Our enquiries in Eastbourne are just about exhausted but we are aware that he has strong ties to Peacehaven and Brighton. It is possible Tom visited these areas and we would like to hear from anyone who has seen him or has had contact with him.'

Tom was last seen at 8.45pm on December 10 heading in the direction of Hampden Park railway station in Eastbourne. He was wearing grey trousers, an orange body warmer and white trainers. He is 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build, with a pale complexion and blond hair.

Police believe he often uses the surnames Andrews and Grimshaw. Readers with any information can call police on 0845 6070999.
