The vehicles moved onto the land in Brighton Road earlier this morning (Friday March 24).

The site has been empty for more than a year after Dairy Crest announced it had sold the land and was moving to a new base in Burgess Hill.

District councillor Godfrey Newman sent in this photo.

One resident said: “I am extremely concerned.

“The caravans stated moving onto the site this morning. There were about six vans and families there. There is a lot of noise, shouting and children shouting.”

They added it had been reported it to the police and the district council.

Horsham District Council confirmed the land was privately owned and both the landlord and the police had been informed.

Sussex Police said: “We were made aware of travellers arriving at 9.30am on Friday (March 24) at Dairy Crest on Brighton Road, Horsham.
