Consultation on East Preston’s future

East Preston Parish Council has published its draft neighbourhood plan for public consultation.

This is part of the legal process which will help define housing development in East Preston for the next fifteen years.

Over the coming few weeks a copy of the plan will be delivered to every household and business in East Preston, giving everyone a chance to read it.

Chairman of the parish council, councillor Joop Duijf, said there will be a special drop-in session for villagers to find out more about the process.

Cllr Duijf said: “The East Preston neighbourhood plan steering group has worked tirelessly over the past year or so, and would now like to hear what residents and people who work here have to say about the policies and proposals within the documents.

“The steering group will be holding a drop-in session during the consultation period, to which anyone with questions about the draft plan can come along and meet the team.

“Details are just being finalised but will be publicised around the village soon.”

Everyone who lives and works in the village has the right to comment on the draft document.

The premise of the neighbourhood plan process is to give smaller communities more power and say on how their area develops – particularly with regard to housing and infrastructure.

East Preston’s plan follows in the wake of the recent announcement about Rustington’s draft plan’s own consultation, which was launched this week.

The village’s plan can be downloaded via the East Preston Parish Council’s website. The consultation period ends Thursday, May 29.
