Corps’ pride displayed as hundreds march in Littlehampton

BLUSTERY weather couldn’t put a halt to hundreds of officers and cadets of the Nautical Training Corps (NTC) as they paraded along Littlehampton’s seafront.

About 500 members from the organisation took part in the annual Founders Day celebration along the town’s promenade and in The Green, this month. The event was kicked-off with a service of thanks, remembrance and dedication, honouring those who have or are serving in the armed forces and the NTC.

A message from the corps’ commodore, Dave Wright explained the pride and gratitude felt for all the hard work of the members that make the NTC.

An awards ceremony followed, with NTC chairman Laura Moffat and patron, rear admiral Lippiet, presenting those who had shown steadfast dedication to the corps.

Rear admiral Lippiet said: “As always, officers and cadets showed an impeccable turn out, it is always great to see this recognised.”

Stuart Ginnaw, commanding officer of the Littlehampton wing of the NTC, TS Implacable, was among those hailed receiving trophy from acting Commodore Dennis Kilshaw.

Competition soon ensued among the various wings of the organisation, with events ranging from an exhausting gun run and minibus-pull to a tug-of-war.

Others took the chance to indulge in less strenuous exploits from mingling to joining a bake-off.
