Council chairman supportsvaluable children's charity

Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity in Five Oaks, which helps families to maximise potential for under fives with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties, was extremely happy to hear that Christian Mitchell, newly elected Chairman of Horsham District Council, has chosen us as one of three charities to support.

We invited Christian to visit last week, where he was able to spend time observing a group of two to three-year-olds and their parents enjoying their play, exercises, games and songs.

Christian Mitchell said: “I am delighted to be able to support the vital service of Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity having seen the work they do which is truly inspirational.

“I met some of the staff today and experienced their passion to, and commitment for, what they do. I also met some parents and observed them and their children participating in one of the charity’s early intervention sessions and heard how enormously grateful they are for the service that they are receiving.

“I recognise that Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, like so many other small charities, is facing challenges in this difficult economic climate, and during my chairmanship, I will do everything I can for this valuable and unique service.”

Pilar Cloud, the charity’s executive manager, said: “It is truly wonderful to have this very local recognition and to have such an enthusiastic and genuine supporter in Christian Mitchell.

“I look forward to working with Chairman Mitchell to broaden our local business support, particularly as we look towards an exciting new phase of development for the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.”
