Council praise for police response

Police have been praised for their speedy response following a raid on a Battle jewellers last Friday.

Officers arrived at the scene of the crime at Friar House Antique Jewellery, in the High Street, just three minutes after the 999 call was received.

Speaking at Tuesday's Battle Town Council meeting, Cllr Richard Bye said: "I would like to thank the police for their extremely swift response to the robbery on Friday.

"I was extremely impressed."

Earlier this week police strenuously denied a rumour that it took officers 15 minutes to attend the scene.
