More than 100 properties identified as being at possible risk of flooding in Polegate have been visited and residents given advice on flood prevention, as part of a project delivered by Polegate Town Council and Wealden District Council.
Data from the County Council and Environment Agency identified 110 properties being a possible flood risk.
Polegate councillors, supported by a community volunteer from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, visited properties to carry out a door-step visit, which included highlighting the responsibilities of home owners, advice on flood prevention maintenance and explaining the best agency to contact should any flooding occur.
Cllr Dan Dunbar said: “The door-step visits are the most effective way of delivering flood awareness advice to local residents. From those we spoke with, 65 per cent said they felt unprepared prior to the visit but more confident afterwards.”
