A free basketball session was held at William Parker Academy’s Lower Sports Hall last Monday (November 24) to encourage young people to play the game and get involved with a sporting habit for life.
Hastings Borough Council has been working with Hung Li and South East Tigers Basketball team to develop the sport locally for young people.
Councillor Dawn Poole, the council’s lead member for leisure and amenities, attended the session. She said: “With the lack of funding available to them the group have struggled to get the right size equipment for the age group. I’m therefore pleased the council’s StreetGames Project has stepped in and donated 20 basketballs to enable the young people to play the game, develop their skills and build their confidence.”
