Rye Maritime Festival organiser Charles Bronsdon challenged the council at last week’s Annual Town Meeting and asked: “Why is it that one of the biggest festivals we have doesn’t get the support it deserves?”

Mayor Cllr Fiddimore explained that the council felt it should be self-funding.

Mr Bronsdon said: “We are a free festival and not income earning yet we don’t get the financial support we asked the council for.”

The Mayor invited the organisers to re-apply for funding from the Town Council saying: “You are welcome to put another application in this year.”
