As the mystery surrounding the overnight appearance of ten minion bins in Peacehaven and Newhaven continues, the council responsible for the upkeep of the bins has spoken out.

Lewes District Council has released a statement after ten litter bins in Peacehaven, Newhaven and Rottingdean were modified to look like minions from the popular film, Despicable Me.

A spokesperson for the council said: “These bins have certainly drawn attention and brought comments and smiles from people passing by.

“Anything that encourages people to use the litter bins provided is a good thing as we want to keep the district clean and tidy for all to enjoy.”

Lewes District Council nor Peacehaven Town Council know who is responsible for the creative and amusing act, which is believed to have taken place overnight on Sunday, August 30.
