Hampden Park councillors Pat Hearn, Jim Murray and Colin Swansborough agreed to fund the flagpole, which cost just over £1,050, through the Devolved Budget scheme.

The Green Flag award recognises parks that are maintained to the highest possible standards and have excellent facilities. Last year, Hampden Park was awarded the flag in recognition of the work done to enhance the area for residents and visitors.
