The worst affected roads, according to councillor Geoff Patmore of Widewater Ward, are Westway, The Broadway and Orient Road, especially when Lancing Rangers football games are taking place.

He said: “Lancing Parish Council owns the public amenities of the football pitch, recreation area, children’s playground and allotments in Orient Road, and West Beach – and the public park their vehicles indiscriminately to access these public amenities on a regular basis.

“The vehicle parking creates havoc and one day somebody will get killed. There is a complete disregard for road traffic regulations and cause severe dangerous traffic violations by parking on the crossroads on the pavements and blocking access to properties in Orient Road, the Broadway and Westway.

“This happens on a regular basis during summer and winter and I have been inundated with requests for action with regard to the dangerous aspects.

“I am extremely concerned about the obvious dangers to residents and public at large.”

Mr Patmore has called for the roads to be marked in line with road traffic regulations, including stop signs, double yellow lines for the corners and white stop lines for the crossroads.

He has also asked for a police presence at the crossroads during match fixtures to ensure the safety of the public and residents.
