Council's new chief executive confirmed at extraordinary meeting

Robert Cottrill has been formally confirmed as the new chief executive for Lewes District Council, starting next week.

Mr Cottrill will take up his new role, as a shared chief executive for LDC and Eastbourne Borough Council, on Monday, January 18.

The appointment follows extraordinary Full Council meetings in Lewes today (January 14) and Eastbourne yesterday (January 13).

The move is to make the councils as efficient as possible while retaining the sovereignty of each council, meaning that there will still be two separate sets of elected councillors setting the priorities for their areas.
