The cost of replacing the glass on Seaford’s vandalised seafront shelters could be in excess of £1,500, the town council has said.

Over the Christmas holidays there was a spate of vandalism to the seafront shelters opposite Ringmer Road and The Causeway in Seaford. The first incident occurred around December 12 which was reported to Sussex Police. On December 23 the shelters were targeted again and on December 28 more damage was caused.

A spokesman for Seaford Town Council said: “There was significant damage caused to both shelters with a total of 23 panes of glass being smashed between the two. The last incident occurred over the weekend of Januar y 3 and 4 with no known leads. Costs are being finalised for the replacement glass, which will be in excess of £1,500. Seaford Town Council is looking at other options for glazing the shelters as vandalism of this nature has been a problem previously”.
