The current committee has served the fair for more than a decade, but most of its members are now stepping down.

“We are in need of new volunteers to step up to carry the country fair into the future,” said Michael Martin, chairman of the Steyning Country Fair Committee.

“For those who know and love the country fair, it is an integral part of Steyning life, a family and community occasion much loved by children and adults alike.

“It would be a great loss to the quality of life in Steyning if the county fair were to expire, but it will, if we cannot find new committee members.”

Mr Martin is calling on residents to contact the committee to put themselves forward as volunteers.

Anyone interested in giving up their time to help preserve the future of the country fair should contact Andrew Lake on 07593 659323, Michael Martin on 07913 676692, or visit Sara Bowers at the Steyning Bookshop.

The Steyning Country Fair is held every two years and will be held next on May 25, 2015.

There will be music and dancing with many acts to entertain the young and old alike, as well as a dog show attended by many local dog owners.

Visitors can experience the atmosphere of Steyning as an old market town, complete with livestock, rural crafts, stalls and demonstrations, together with clowns, jugglers, puppets and entertainment for all the family.
