County councillor told ‘A259 will not be blocked’

A COUNTY councillor has received assurances the main carriageway of the A259 will not be blocked during work on the A27.

David Simmons was concerned about the impact of having both roads blocked because of gas works on Brighton Road and drainage works on the A27.

“They seem to have got it sorted so both roads will not be blocked at the same time,” said Mr Simmons, who is an Adur and West Sussex councillor.

“I have spoken to them to make sure the flow is kept open throughout.

“Unfortunately, whatever happens it is going to cause congestion through the towns.”

The work, starting this month, will aim to improve the drainage system on the A27 between Dankton Lane, Sompting, and the Adur bypass in Lancing.
