County may leave Assembly

West Sussex County Council is threatening to withdraw from the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) over a proposal to create a large landill site for London waste in the county.

Proposals contained in SEERA's South East Plan Framework for the next 20 years would see West Sussex receiving 1.6 million tonnes of waste exported from the capital between now and 2015, followed by a further 1 million tonnes between 1015 and 2025.
