COUNTY NEWS: Video of Sussex grandmother getting stuck in the mud goes viral

A Sussex grandmother has spoken of her shock after a hilarious video of her getting stuck in the mud went viral on social media.

In the entertaining clip, hairdresser Sara Coull, 48, struggles to escape from the sinking sludge at a stable-yard, eventually falling face-first into the muck.

The video, taken by a friend, was uploaded to Facebook by Sara’s daughter Georgia under the caption: “My poor mum stuck in the mud then falling. Sorry mum but it’s so fun”.

The clip racked up more than 2.7 million views in just three days.

Grandmother-of-four Sara told of how she was eventually rescued by a tractor, and had to drive home in just her underwear.

She said: “I was at my stable yard and my friend Trevor and I were moving the hay to a different place.

“I just got stuck in the mud and got really, really stuck! Trevor just stood there videoing it all.

“After a while he felt sorry for me so picked me up in the tractor. I was absolutely soaked.

“I had to drive home in just my underwear and coat. It was in the evening too so it was freezing. Luckily it was dark!

“I have to go to the stable yard every day to do the four horses, but this was the first time I’ve been properly stuck. And hopefully the last!”

Sara, from Upper Dicker in East Sussex, said she was shocked by the attention the video has received.

She said: “My friend Trevor took the video and sent it to me. I showed my daughter and the next thing I knew she’d put it on Facebook.

“It’s mental. It’s had more than 2.7 million views in three days. I just think it’s crazy!”
