County News: West Sussex fire causes roof collapse

Firefighters remain at flats in Copsale following an intense blaze which caused a roof to partially collapse.

A fire engine and an aerial ladder platform are still in attendance at the property in Broadwater Lane more than 16 hours after the blaze started.

It is believed the building is a large house containing eight flats. No one was hurt in the fire.

Six fire engines from Billingshurst, Worthing, Horsham, Henfield and Crawley responded to the fire at 4.33pm yesterday.

A water carrier from Burgess Hill and command unit from Haywards Heath also attended.

On arrival, firefighters found the first floor of the house well-alight.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
