COUNTY NEWS: Women '˜seriously injured' by cattle in Sussex field

Two women were seriously injured by cattle in a Sussex field yesterday (Thursday, June 9), emergency services have said.

Two South East Coast Ambulance crews were called to a field behind the Bear Inn and Burwash Motel, in East Sussex, at 2.15pm after reports of two adult females who had been injured by cows.

An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crew from Burwash and the animal rescue team from Crowborough was called at 2.45pm to assist assisted paramedics in reaching the casualties.

Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was also in attendence.

Paramedics treated two women with serious injuries at the scene.

One was taken by the air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County in Brighton, with chest and other injuries.

The second woman was taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings with arm, leg and other injuries.

The farmer was alerted and was dealing with the cattle, according to the fire service.

The fire crew left the scene at 3.15pm.
