Council defends parking wardens after online video controversy. Responding to claims that a parking services van had hit a parked car, Horsham District Council said there is no evidence of a collision. The video, posted on Horsham Facebook page by Street Broadcast Horsham, begins after the alleged impact.

Walker tackling a 1,000 mile challenge pays tribute to the kindness of strangers. Simon Bacon, 40, from Horsham, is due to complete a John O’ Groats to Lands End walk on Sunday. Simon, who is walking for Cancer Research UK, has raised more than £5,000, including several hundred from strangers he met on the way.

Vehicle thieves targetting Land Rover Defenders. Sussex CID say there have been 23 recent incidents in Horsham district and into Surrey, with the thieves favouring older models that do not have immobilisers. Owners of the 90 and 110 models are advised to be particularly vigilant.

Simon Burfiend, from Steyning, is part of a six man team which plans to be the first boat crew to row unsupported from Australia to South Africa. The team, due to begin their epic crossing in July, is looking for corporate sponsorship.

Miss Teen Queen UK contestant Tempeste Bridger, from Storrington, is through to the second round of the competition. The 16 year old aspiring model is asking for public votes to get her to round three. She is also warning about companies which try to exploit young people who want a career in modelling.
