Couple celebrate best Christmas ever as twins arrive early

A Bexhill couple celebrated "the best Christmas we have ever had" after their healthy baby twins arrived on Christmas Day.

Santa was still finishing his rounds when Kenneth Bahlangene Murray rushed his partner Faith to the Conquest Hospital after her waters broke at 3.15am on Christmas morning.

Emmanuel Bahlangene Murray (6lb 4oz) and Manuel Jr Bahlangene Murray (5lb 11oz) were born at 4.39pm.

Kenneth, of Preston Road, Sidley, said: "For now we are still rejoicing and we are still very happy.

"It's our first experience together (of having children] and we are just trying to cope with it as best we can."

The twins were originally due on December 12, but a scan revealed they were lying across one another in the womb.

Doctors predicted this would delay their arrival until January 5, but the couple, who had their fingers crossed for Christmas babies, spoke with joy at Emmanuel and Manuel Jr's early timing.

Though Kenneth has been through the trials of parenthood before, he is learning new skills from having twins, such as how to survive on less sleep.

He said: "It's not easy, because one after the other they start crying, especially at night. We are so tired.

"But it's been a very happy experience."

He added that, to his knowledge, it was rare for members of the black community to have twins, and that the couple were even more proud because of this.

Manuel Jr was named for his smaller size and quiet temperament. Emmanuel is already noticeably more active.

Once out of the hospital on Sunday, the couple found time to celebrate the season, and the new additions to the family, with friends and loved ones.
