February 21:

Howard Jenkins, 49, of Jevington Gardens, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Blackboys, Uckfield, on January 16. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of damaging property on the same date. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work. Magistrates also issued a restraining order and ordered him to pay £350 in prosecution costs.

Shelley Bissett, 27, of Selwyn Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Eastbourne on August 25 last year. She also pleaded guilty to a charge of assault by beating, which took place at Grove Road, Eastbourne, on November 16 and to stealing two bottles of wine, worth £8.50, from Tesco, in Grove Road, on the same date. The court made a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered her to pay a total of £100 in compensation.

Thomas Bloor, 20, of Southfields Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Polo on Dittons Road, Polegate, on December 31, with cannabis in his blood stream. He was fined £100 and banned from driving for one year.

John Rudwick, 54, of Court Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving an LDV Convoy vehicle, on Seaside Road, Eastbourne, on February 5, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 50 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance on the same date. He was fined £160 and banned from driving for three years.

Oliver White, 25, of Glynde Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus, on Kings Drive, on February 6, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 47 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £330 and banned from driving for one year.

February 23:

Barry Morgan, 69, of De La Warr Road, Bexhill, was found guilty of assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Hailsham on November 27 last year. He also admitted being in breach of a suspended prison sentence, made by an earlier court for dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. The court made a community order with a requirement of 180 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £150 in compensation and £625 in prosecution costs. Magistrates also issued a restraining order.

Lee Humble, 33, of College Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and to using threatening behaviour. The offences took place at Cornfield Road, Eastbourne, on January 29. He also pleaded guilty to entering the staff area of the Arndale shopping centre on February 5 and stealing handbags, purses, phones, jewellery and ID cards to the value of approximately £2,760.18. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for two years and ordered to pay £925 in compensation. Magistrates also made a community order. They said the reason for the custodial sentence was because of ‘serious offences, some committed whilst on bail, aggravated by similar previous convictions’.

March 1:

Oliver Cassin, 22, of Roselands Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. The offence took place at The Waterfront on January 28. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work.

Samuel Cox, 27, of Fitzmaurice Avenue, Eastbourne pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. The offence took place at The Waterfront on January 28. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis and cocaine on the same date. He was fined a total of £363.

Mantvdas Grybauskas, 38, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall vehicle on Tideswell Road, Eastbourne, on February 11, while more than three times over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 109 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. The court made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for two years.

Marcel Brozyna, 29, of Upper Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Honda vehicle on Seaside Road, Eastbourne, on November 27, while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a blood alcohol reading of 201 milligrammes. The legal limit is 80mg. He was fined £725 and banned from driving for two years.

Denim Graven, 30, of Preston Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to assault and to stealing alcohol worth £54 from Asda at North Street, Hailsham, on February 13. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement.

Peter Harrington, 50, of Ceylon Place, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to dishonestly representing himself as a driving instructor to make a gain of £750. The offence took place at Eastbourne between December 1 2015 and June 30 2016. He was ordered to pay £1,546 in compensation.

Silke Seifert, 48, of Queens Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis under the Road Traffic Act 1988. The offence took place at Seaside Road, Eastbourne on February 14. He was fined £73 and banned from driving for 84 days.

Matthew Loft, 28, of Foxglove Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault by beating. The offence took place at Eastbourne on October 19 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 180 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £100 compensation.
