January 20:

Oliver Jessop, 20, of Cambridge Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a VW van while disqualified and driving with no insurance. The offences took place at Cornish Close, Eastbourne, on November 17. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.

Shane Dodson, 24, of Watermill Close, Polegate, pleaded guilty to stealing beer and crisps worth £6.50 from Tesco Express, in Polegate, on January 1. He also pleaded guilty to damaging a wing mirror on the same day. He was given an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

Stephen Jackson, 34, of Reynolds Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing four cans of cider and a can of Jack Daniels and Coke, worth £7.90, from Co-Op, in Eastbourne on November 29. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £7.90 compensation.

Keith Larmour, 35, of Edmund Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Combi van on Edmund Close on January 3 while more than twice over the drink-drive limit. He gave an alcohol breath reading of 94 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £400 and banned from driving for two years.

Timothy Kilshaw, 42, of Hayland Green, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a lock-knife in a public place. The offence took place at Dittons Road, Polegate, on November 21. The court made a community order with a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work.

January 21:

Danielle Pither, 34, of Milford Drive, Eastbourne, was found guilty of failing to comply with a red traffic light signal at the Polegate railway level crossing on March 11 last year. She was also found guilty of failing to give information relating to the identity of a driver to British Transport Police. She was fined £660 and her driving record was endorsed with six penalty points. The charges were proved in her absence.

Damian Bailey, 40, of Crowhurst Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing a Microsoft Linx tablet worth £79.50 from Sainsburys at Eastbourne on January 12. He was given a six month conditional discharge .

Ben Callow, 21, of Stanley Avenue, Sheerness, Kent, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Cornfield Road, Eastbourne, while more than twice over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 77 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £100 and banned from driving for 18 months.

Simon King, 43, of Fletcher Close, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to driving an Audi car on Hastings Road, Battle, while over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 54 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £100 and banned from driving for a year.

Richard Martin, 46, of Dryden Walk, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour and being in possession of quantities of cocaine and cannabis. The offences took place at Eastbourne on December 23. He was fined a total of £600.

William McIntyre, 48, of Elms Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of Adidas trainers from T J Hughes, in Terminus Road, Eastbourne, on January 8. He was given an 18- month conditional discharge.

Florette Row, 37, of Katherine Way, Seaford, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Beacon Road, Seaford, on November 20, while disqualified. She also pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis at Eastbourne Police Station and driving without insurance. She was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was that she crashed the vehicle and there was a child in it at the time.
