“Over the last six weeks, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Neighbourhood Response Team have been working hard to tackle the priorities that matter most to local people.

“Eight arrests were recently made in relation to anti social behaviour or violence.

“One local youth recently received a Youth Rehabilitation Order at Hastings Magistrates Court with conditions not to enter Rye, daily between 7pm - 5.30am and not to enter the curtilege of Budgens, Jempsons, Rye, daily. This exclusion requirement lasts for six months and carries a power of arrest.

“The remaining suspects are currently on police bail with conditions that include not entering Rye.

“The majority of these arrests have followed calls from concerned members of the public.

“Thank you for helping us to make Rye a safer place to live and work and please do continue to report anti social behaviour to us on 101.”

Police are also turning their attention to vehicle crime following a number of cars being broken into.

PC Paul Fielder said: “Leaving property on display in your vehicle is as bad as leaving property on display in your home.”
