Cranleigh pilot walks away from crash

A PILOT walked away from his aircraft after it somersaulted and landing on its roof at Shoreham Airport this afternoon (September 29).

The incident happened at 3pm and the paramedic from the Force helicopter, which is based there, was quickly on scene when the two seater plane flipped over at the end of the runway.

A 75-year-old pilot from Cranleigh, Surrey, walked away with minor cuts.

Shoreham fire and rescue team restored the aircraft, which suffered a little damage.

Sgt Darren Harries said: “The experienced pilot was shaken but otherwise received minor injuries.”
