Crash victim named by police

A BATTLE man who died in a car crash in Peasmarsh last month has been named by police.

Anthony Horton, 63, of Glengorse Court, was travelling in the rear of a Ford Fiesta car when it collided with two other cars on the A268, Main Street, Peasmarsh, on March 27.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.

A 59-year-old Battle woman, believed to be Mr Horton’s wife, was airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious head injuries in the crash.

She remains in Kings College Hospital, in a comfortable condition.

Police were called to the scene at 7.10pm following reports a Fiesta had collided with a VW Golf and then struck a stationary Nissan Primastar van.

A 63-year-old St Leonards man, who was driving the Fiesta, was taken to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings with minor injuries, along with the 37-year-old male driver of the Golf.

The van driver, a 44-year-old man from Winchelsea, was unhurt.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about the crash is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Somerton.
