Crawley man found dead on the A272 near Cowfold

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after police and ambulance crews were called to the A272 east of Cowfold at 5pm on Sunday (December 6) to reports of a man in the road.

A spokesman added: “A 55-year-old man from Crawley was sadly pronounced dead.

“It is thought that the man may have been hit by a vehicle which did not stop at the scene.”

Enquiries are underway to establish the cause of death and the full circumstances of the incident, said police.

The spokesman added: “Police urge anyone who witnessed what happened or who may have any relevant dash-cam footage to come forward.

“Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is asked to report online or call 101, quoting Operation Origin.”
