Crawley woman injured on round the world sailing race
Trudi Bubb sustained a suspected fractured arm when her yacht Unicef was caught in a violent storm in the East China Sea earlier today (Wednesday March 9).
She set sail on the 20,000mi Clipper Round the World race aiming to raise £20,000 for the Golden Lion Children’s Trust on January 15.

Hide AdA Clipper spokesman said: “Unicef is diverting to Shanghai. British crew member Trudi Bubb from Crawley, has a suspected fractured arm, sustained during a fall below decks in the galley area earlier today.
“On arrival Trudi will be transferred to hospital for x-rays and evaluation of her injury, after which the team will resume racing.
“The Clipper Race fleet was caught in a violent storm, with gusting winds of 70 to 80 knots, and prolonged periods at 55-60 knots and massive, steep seas sending water everywhere.“
