Crayons are top band

THE CRAYONS secured victory in Bexhill College's charity Battle of the Bands event on Wednesday.

The melodious Hastings act were handed top spot after a popular performance on Hastings Pier. Joint second place went to The Send Off and The Red Shift, with Star Scream taking fourth spot.

Over 200 people made their way to the Pier Ballroom during the night, which will help raise money towards World Aids Day.

All proceeds will be directed towards ending the scourge of the disease, particularly in Africa.

Organiser Joseph Ammoun, chairperson of the Bexhill College Student Rep team, said: "We're very happy that all the hard work that Bexhill College has put into this event can benefit people within the area and beyond."
