Susie, from Ham Manor, Angmering, and Karen, from Felpham, joined in the women-only Action Diva Sussex charity ride on Saturday, then later that day summoned up enough energy to hold a quiz night in aid of the two charities they will be supporting through their long-distance cycle, Myeloma UK and the Alzheimer’s Society, raising £1,050.

Even before starting the ride on Tuesday next week, Susie and Karen have raised thousands of pounds, with static cycle rides and other events fitted in with their tough training regime.

Karen said “We are both very excited about the real challenge, which is just beginning. We have had our share of aches and pains and a few injuries – but we are now on the final straight. We are very grateful to all our well-wishers and for the funds raised to date.”
