Crews called to fire in Ashdown Forest

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in the Ashdown Forest yesterday evening (Monday, March 21).

Three appliances from Crowborough and Forest Row, including a specialist off-road vehicle, attended Kidds Hill shortly after 6pm on Monday.

On arrival, crews confirmed that approximately 50 square meters of gorse was alight. Firefighters used wild fire beaters and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters made the area safe and left the scene at 6.55pm.
