Crews tackle fire at commercial property in East Sussex village

Fire crews spent several hours tackling a fire at a commercial property in Blackboys, East Sussex.

Eight fire engines were sent to the property in Lewes Road at just after 11pm on Sunday (October 18).

An East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said on Twitter: “We now have eight engines in attendance at the fire in Lewes Road, Blackboys.

“Crews from Mayfield, Hailsham, Crowborough, Brighton and support from West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service are also in attendance.

“Firefighters are using four breathing apparatus, one main jet, one hose reel and one in seven firefighting foam.”

At 4.30am, the fire service tweeted to say crews remained on scene carrying out a watching brief.

A fire investigation is scheduled to happen later on Monday (October 19), it said.
