Cries of 'foul' sounded over new stadium

PROPOSALS for a new football stadium for Horsham Football Club came under the spotlight at a packed public meeting.

Around 350 people packed North Heath Hall in Horsham on Friday night to question proposals for the new development in the grounds of Holbrook Club.

So many people turned up that the hall's safety capacity was exceeded, causing latecomers to be 'locked out'.

At the meeting, organised by North Horsham Parish Council, a panel of local officials, including representatives from the football club, district council and police, fielded a barrage of questions that explored many areas of concern with the club's planning application.

Many questions highlighted the difference between the site now proposed, in the heart of a densely residential area behind Horsham station, and the club's previous town centre site, with its in-built parking and access options.
