CRIME FILE: Burglaries, arrests and other crimes in Worthing

POLICE in Worthing had a busy weekend with burglaries, several assaults and car vandalism among the crimes they were investigating.

Arrests

Police arrested seven people in relation to seven assaults in the town between Friday (February 8) and Sunday (February 10). Police say the assaults, including one where a man's head was repeatedly jumped on in Chapel Road, related in minor injuries.

Burglaries

Police are urging residents to install deadlock mechanisms to their homes to prevent burglaries.

The advice comes after a spate of burglaries where glazed panels on front doors have been smashed. The burglars then insert their hands to unlock the door and let themselves in.

On Sunday (February 10) three burglaries happened in this way in Arundel Road, Chesswood Road and Pembury Road.

A TV and audio equipment were stolen from a house being renovated in Clifton Road, Worthing, on Sunday (February 10).

Car crime

A stereo was stolen from a Peugeot 206 in Stanhope Road, Worthing, at around 5pm on Sunday (February 10).

Thieves stole a wheel from a Vauxhall Corsa parked in Marlow Road, Worthing, sometime between Thursday, February 7, and Saturday, February 9.

Vandals scratched 12 cars on the forecourt at Centre Point '“ Auto Sales, in Teville Road, Worthing, on Sunday (February 10). Witnesses are being sought.

Purse thefts

Purse thefts are still happening in Worthing.

A woman had her purse stolen from her bag while in a town centre shop on Saturday (February 9).

Police still have purse chains and alarms which people can collect for free from the station in Chatsworth Road.
