CRIME FILE: Foiled burglars and arrests at Worthing food outlets

ARRESTS have been made at two Worthing eateries, and burglars were foiled, but help is needed to track bike thieves.

Deadlocks foil thieves

A BURGLARY at a house in Worthing was prevented thanks to a deadlock, according to police.

Police have urged home owners to install deadlocks to their doors after a spate of burglaries.

The front door of a house in Wigmore Road was targeted on Saturday (February 24) but police say entry was prevented due to there being a deadlock.

On Tuesday, February 19, however, thieves did managed to get into a house in the same road, using a crow bar, and stole an ipod, a radio and a sander.

Tools taken

SPECIALIST tools were stolen from a Worthing company.

The theft happened at the company, in Southdownview Road, on Sunday night (February 24).

Kebab shop assault

A MAN was arrested for racially aggravated common assault after becoming abusive in a Worthing kebab shop.

Police were called to a kebab shop in Heene Road during the early hours of Saturday (February 23).

A man is thought to have been complaining about his food and police say he started shouting abuse which was of a racist nature.

The man was arrested and has been released on police bail.

Smashed curry house

A MAN was arrested after a window was smashed at a curry house in Tarring Road, Worthing, on Friday night (February 22).

Arrested for torching own car

A MAN was arrested after setting fire to his own car and threatening to cause damage to a property.

Police were called to Titnore Way, Durrington, on Friday night (February 22), following reports of a car fire.

They arrested a man on suspicion of criminal damage.

He has been released on police bail.

Teen attacker found

A TEENAGER was arrested after a 13-year-old boy was attacked in Worthing.

The victim was approached by two males, aged 13 or 14, on Sunday, February 24, in Victoria Road, and was attacked.

Initial reports suggested the victim had suffered a broken jaw.

One of the males was arrested and is now helping police with their enquiries.

Caught window smashing

POLICE tracked down two men and arrested them after reports of criminal damage in Tarring.

An upstairs window of a property in South Street was smashed in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 24).

Police were called and searched the area. Using descriptions given, the two men were found and arrested. They have now been released on police bail.

Multiple bike thefts

THERE were eight bicycle thefts reported to police in Worthing over the weekend.

Bikes were stolen from various locations in the town centre as well as from their owner's gardens.

Police say many of the bikes were left unattended or insecure.

*A mountain bike with a faulty brake was stolen from Northbrook College.

The blue Shogun bike was taken from the bicycle rack at the college, in Littlehampton Road, on Tuesday, February 12.
