Crime prevention event at Peasmarsh

A CRIME prevention event held at Peasmarsh recently has been hailed as a success.

The event, on Friday April 12, saw Rye Neighbourhood Policing Team conducting an ‘Operation Marker’ event at Jempsons Superstore.

Over 60 local residents were given crime prevention advice during the course of the day with around 40 UV property marking pens given out.

PCSO Becky Unicombe said: “We decided to hold this event following a series of burglaries in the area.

“It was clear that local residents were worried about becoming victims so we wanted to reassure as many people as possible that we are doing all we can to not only arrest suspected burglars but help prevent crimes from occurring in the first place.

“We provided many people with advice and property marking equipment and the event was well received. I’d like to thank Jempsons for their hospitality, without them this event would not have been such a success.

“If anyone was unable to get to the event I’d like to urge them to contact Sussex Police on 101 or their local officer via www.sussex.police.uk.”
