28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of raping woman in Peacehaven park

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of raping a woman in a park in Peacehaven.

Sussex Police confirmed officers were investigating a report of a woman being raped at Oval Park on Saturday (April 25).

The incident is alleged to have happened between 10.30pm and 12 midnight in a grassy area close to Tor Road.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.

“The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers.

“This is currently being treated as an isolated incident and the victim and suspect are believed to be known to each other.

“Anyone with information is asked to report online or call 101, quoting serial 1719 of 25/04.”
