Appeal after two burglaries in Eastbourne

Police are appealing for witnesses to two burglaries which they believe to be linked in the Old Town area of Eastbourne.

Both occurred in Dillingburgh Road. The first happened at about 3.15am on Sunday January 11, where the occupier was woken by a rattling noise.

When she went to see what the noise was she discovered the front doors of the house were open. A brown crocodile-effect handbag, a turquoise blue purse, bank card and cash, a silver iPad in a purple case, and a Samsung smartphone had been taken.

At another property, a number of items were discovered missing at 8am on the same day.

As well as an Epson F5400 series printer and a Philips GC3320 steam iron, numerous items of clothing were taken including a River Island men’s grey Harrington jacket with black leather sleeves; a navy Jack Jones shooting style jacket and a blue quilted jacket with wood-effect buttons by Tokyo Laundry and a men’s black leather jacket by Dissident.

Detective Constable Andy Lawrence said, “Due to the time frame of these incidents we believe the two burglaries are linked. The items of clothing are distinctive and would not have been easy to conceal or carry away.

“If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area overnight from 10 to 11 January, or has seen any of these items for sale, perhaps on the internet, I would ask them to contact police by emailing or call 101, quoting serial 0196 of 11/01.”
