Arson-hit Eastbourne bookshop re-opens

A popular Eastbourne bookshop which was targeted by arsonists at the start of lockdown is re-open for business.

Camilla’s in Grove Road suffered severe damage when fire tore through the popular venue in March

Co-owner Stuart Broad said this week that major repairs had been carried out and it was very much back in business for its regular customers.

He also thanked everyone for their support.

Many of the books were damaged by fire,smoke or water.

Eastbourne Police have confirmed the investigation into the blaze is ongoing.

A spokesperson said, “A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted arson with intent to endanger life has now been released under investigation.”
