Attempted robbery of elderly man in Uckfield

AN ELDERLY man was hit and pushed to the ground in Uckfield in an attempted robbery on Sunday September 23.

Officers said the local man was walking home from a shop in the High Street and was attacked when he reached an alleyway off Keld Close.

The two men then started going through his pockets at around 10.45pm, however the victim shouted and resisted, causing them to run off empty handed.

The victim was treated at Eastbourne District General Hospital for minor injuries.

Both suspects were described as white and in their late teens to early twenties.

One was described as about 5ft 8ins and of medium build.

The second suspect wore a hoody with the hood up and was slighty taller.

Detective inspector Rob Morland said; “If anyone was in the area yesterday evening and saw any suspicious activity we ask them to call us via 101 quoting serial 1441 of 23/9.
