Break-in leaves a ‘bitter taste’ for Horsham shop workers

The Non Stop Party shop, in Middle Street, was damaged on Wednesday July 23 when intruders broke into the front entrance of the store.

Police were called to the incident at around 12 midnight on Wednesday where they found a broken lock on the main entrance to the shop.

Lorraine Gregory, who works at the shop, was one of the first people to arrive at the scene where intruders had forced open the lock on the front door.

Lorraine said: “I just couldn’t believe it. It has made me really cross.

“In the 15 years I have been here this has never happened.

“It has turned out to be quite expensive for us and we are only a small company.

“Why would they target a small company like this?”

Jo Braid also works at the store. She said: “It is a shame.

“It leaves a really bitter taste.

“Why would anyone want to break into a small shop like this.”

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “An alarm was activated in the Non Stop Party Shop in Middle Street a few minutes before 12 midnight on Wednesday night (July 23).

“The owner and police officers were quickly on the scene and established that although the door of the shop had been broken through, there was no indication that anyone had entered the property or that anything had been stolen.”

With it believed that nothing has been taken from the store many staff have questioned why anyone would want to break into the shop in the first place.

Lorraine said: “I don’t understand why anyone would want to break in.

“Unless anyone wants £2 balloons we don’t have much to take.

“It has been a real inconvenience.”
