BREAKING NEWS: Reward offered after murderer escapes Ford Prison

A REWARD of £1,000 is being offered by police for information leading to the arrest and recapture of a murderer who escaped from prison for a second time.

Paul Flint, 48, absconded from Ford Prison on July 1 and is thought to have connections to north London.

Flint was sent to prison in 1990 for murder and burglary.

Detectives believe he may be linked to three recent Brighton and Hove burglaries since he left the category C open prison.

The reward comes days after Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP Nick Gibb expressed his ‘serious concerns’ over the absconding of Flint to Justice Secretary Chris Grayling.

In his letter to Mr Grayling, sent earlier this week, Mr Gibb explained that this was the second time Flint had run from an open prison, having previously absconded from Hollesley Bay Prison, Suffolk, in June last year.

Mr Gibb wrote: “When prisoners convicted of serious offences, such as murder, abscond from Ford Prison, it raises serious doubts about the rigour and professionalism of the way prisoners are allocated to the prison.”

Detective Inspector Dave Richards, of Chichester response investigation team said: “This reward has been offered to help encourage anyone who may have any information about where Paul Flint is to come forward.

“We would urge anyone who know of his whereabouts, to make contact with police.

“We think he is likely to commit more offences unless he is arrested so I would urge anyone that sees him to contact us immediately.

“But please do not approach him – just dial 999.

DI Richads added: “We have recent information that suggests Flint may be in north London.”

Flint is described at black, 5ft 11in tall of stocky build with black greying hair, wears glasses and speaks with an English accent.

He has Paul tattooed onto his fingers on his left hand.
