Brighton cat stabbing: Appeal for information

Police are appealing for information after a cat was found stabbed to death outside its owner’s house in Brighton.

The attack in North Gardens is the latest in a serious of cat slashings in the BN1 area of Brighton, which started last October.

This latest incident was reported to have happened between 6.55pm and 7.30pm on Monday (February 4).

Owner Kath Mattock let her two-year-old cat, Alan, out at 7pm. It was raining so she only expected him to be out for five minutes. But half an hour later he was dead.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police investigating a number of reports of cat deaths and injuries in Brighton have appealed for information following a report of a cat being stabbed in North Gardens.

“The latest incident was reported to have happened between 6.55pm and 7.30pm on Monday (February 4).

“The owner let her cat out after dinner at about 6.55pm and was then informed by her neighbour that she had found him injured on her doorstep at about 7.30pm.

“The cat sadly died and a vet confirmed it was a result of a stab wound.”

Detective Sergeant Duncan Lloyd added: “We would like to hear from anyone in the area who noticed anyone acting suspiciously around this time on Monday or has any information about similar incidents.”
