Brighton man sentenced for stalking ex-partner

Samuel Delgado Cuero, of Ticehurst Road, carried out his stalking campaign between April and June, threatened to harm the woman and her new partner, monitoring her online activity and making persistent unwanted contact, including visits to her home in Hove, police say.

According to police, he also hacked into the woman’s iPhone cloud account and threatened to put intimate pictures of her on the internet.

Following a police investigation he was arrested and charged and, despite pleading not guilty at his trial at Brighton Magistrates Court on June 29 he was convicted and sent to prison, police confirmed.

Police say the court also issued Delgado Cuero with a restraining order to last five years, prohibiting him from contacting the woman, from entering the road where she lives in Hove, and from making any pictures he has of her public.

Investigator Emily Farley of Brighton Crime Investigation Department said, “Delgado Cuero could not accept that the relationship was over. He selfishly and arrogantly assumed that his wife should do whatever he wanted and his conduct caused her great distress.

“We will always follow up reports of this distressing type of behaviour, to the protect victims and to seek justice for them wherever possible. My colleague Aimee Gorman carried out so much of the work in this case and we are both glad that the victim now has some closure.”
