Brighton men to appear in court over charity collection pot theft

Two Brighton men are due to appear in court over the theft of a charity collection pot.

According to Sussex Police, officers responded to an intruder alarm at The Trading Post Coffee Roasters in Kensington Gardens at about 2.12am on Thursday, October 10.

A spokesman said: "Officers arrived at the scene and discovered the front entrance to the premises had been smashed and a till drawer containing a small amount of cash had been stolen.

"Also missing was a charity collection pot containing an unknown quantity of cash."

After searching the area, officers located and arrested two men matching the description of the suspects involved.

Stephen Fidler, 43, unemployed, of no fixed address, and Mark Kaid, 39, unemployed, of Regency Square, Brighton, were arrested and charged with burglary.

Both defendants were remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court.
