Cashpoint gang targets elderly people in Bexhill

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of elderly people were targeted by a group of men at ATM cashpoints on Devonshire Road, Bexhill, on Monday morning (December 6).

The suspects used distraction techniques to obtain PIN numbers and remove the victims’ bank cards, leaving the owner believing their card had been swallowed by the cashpoint machine.

Daniel Baah, 24, of Durban Road, Stratford, has been charged on suspicion of theft, going equipped for theft, acquiring or possessing criminal property, and possession of a class B drug.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Anyone with information or had similar happen to them in the Sussex area which could help officers with their investigation is asked to report online or call police on 101 quoting serial number 364 of 20/11.”
