CCTV image released after woman assaulted in Burgess Hill

Police investigating an assault in Burgess Hill have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

Sussex Police said a woman was assaulted in Church Road, Burgess Hill, at just after midnight on Wednesday, September 23.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, the force said.

Officers conducted an area search and arrested three people:

A 21-year-old man from Burgess Hill was arrested on suspicion of affray.

A 25-year-old man from Burgess Hill was arrested on suspicion of affray.

A 19-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of affray, assaulting a person thereby causing actual bodily harm and obstructing or resisting a constable in execution of duty.

The three have been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing, police confirmed.

A police spokesman said: “If you recognise the man in the image or witnessed the assault please report it online or call 101, quoting reference 12 23/09.”
