Chichester man arrested on suspicion of attempting to engage teenage girl in sexual activity

A Chichester man is being questioned by police after an attempt was made to engage a teenage girl in sexual activity, Sussex Police has said.

Police said a 38-year-old man was arrested by officers in Chichester on Tuesday afternoon (June 30) on suspicion of the offence involving a girl under the age of 16.

A spokesperson said: "He is currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.

"Checks have established that there has been no safeguarding risk to any person."

During a 'subsequent search of an address' in Chichester later the same day, police said a quantity of cannabis was found.

The spokesperson added: "A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

"He is also currently in custody for interview and further enquiries."
